NOTE: Please check out the songs review as well. The movie maybe bad, but you gotta watch it at least for the songs.
Sangamam - This movie was of country style. Everything looked traditional starting from the clothes to the theme of the movie. The theme of the movie had something to do with Carnatic dancing and stuff like that. The story in this movie was quite well. Mannivannan and Vijayakanth give a great performance as do the supporting actors. Supporting actors include Rahuman, Vadivelu, Charlie, Sri Vidhya and others. ****
Kadhalar Dhinam - This movie is a high tech up to date type of movie which uses the internet in a big way. This movie basically has two people falling into love through chatting on the internet. If you have over protective parents and are scared of the net, don't let them watch this movie. The story was a bit weak but the comedy was well done by Kavundamany and Chinnijeyanth. You shouldn't miss watching this movie. Watch it for the songs at the least. ***1/2
Thullatha Manamum Thullum - I enjoyed watching this movie. This movie starred Vijay, Simran, Mannivannan and many others. I enjoyed this movie because it was different and the storyline was very well done. It had all the elements of a movie, comedy, story and songs. I would definetely recommend you watch this movie. *****
En Swaasa Kaatre - Pretty good movie. This movie starred Aravind Swamy, Raghuvaran, Prakashraj and many others. If you watched Kadhal Kavithai, you will find many elements the same in this movie. Especially since the heroine acted in Kadhal Kavithai. This movie has some twists and turns which definetely threw my predictions of the story way off. The movie starts off with Mission Impossible scene. Aravind Swamy tries to act as a "bad boy" kind of thing, with his short hair cut and a ear ring. But it didn't work that much. ***1/2
Mannavaru Sinnavaru - A nice movie. This movie has a great story line with some great actors. Arjun, Sivaji Ganesan, Soundarya and pretty good cast for comedy as well. Not many fights considering Arjun is acting in it. The movie keeps running on the concept of misunderstanding. Other than that its pretty good. ****
Ponnu Vittu Karan - A funny movie with some seriousness. This movie also has a great cast with Satyaraj, Nilaran Ravi, and some other great actors. For comedy you got Koundamani and his father (Not real father). I would recommend you watching this movie if you like to laugh a lot and also wish to have some seriousness. But mostly, the comedy keeps it going. ****
Kadhal Kavithai - A love story as you can see by the title. This movie is not that good. This movie stars Prasanth, Charlie and some other great actors. But basically, it was soo boring. Unless if you are the type of person who wants love to survive and into that type of stuff. The story was not the greatest. It has been done, many times. *
Puthumai Pithan - A political type movie with some nice twists. Starring Parthiban, Roja, Devayani, Charlie and other great actors. Basically Parthiban wants India to be a better country and becomes CM by some tricks. This movie is not just Politics like Desia Geetham. Its sort of like Desia Geetham but not to such extremes. This movie has great comedy and lots of other great things to make a movie. ***
Unnidathil Enae Koduthen - This movie is a pretty good movie. It has all comedy and a pretty good story line. This movie features Kartik and Roja and more. But I feel there could have been some more improvements made to it. But overall its a good movie to watch. Just a bit boring maybe. **
Pooveli - A great movie. This movie has a really great story line about friendship and love. This movie did not have as much comedy as you would expect though. But it was nice. This movie features Kartik, Kousalya, Manorama and many others. Really nice casting job. This movie is definetely watching. ****
Kannethire Thondrinaal - Good movie. This movie shows you how friendship beats love. This movie features Prasanth and Simran. If you ask anyone they'll probably say that this is a great movie and you should watch it. And you should see it, but don't expect the best. Nice story line really, but its been done. I was able to predict the entire movie from about 40 minutes into the movie. So, its a predictable movie. **
Uyirae - Not as expected. This movie had rumour that its like the trilogy of Roja. And it is kind of. But both Roja and Bombay had a happy ending. This one didn't really. This movie featured full hindi actors; Sharukh Khan, Manisha Koirala and Preity. Not one single tamil actor did I see. When I heard it was Mani Ratnam's film I expected lots of explosion, but did not see many. Its a weird movie. Even if you watch it, you may not be able to understand it. *1/2
Kalyana Galatha - Funny! This movie was hilarious. Did not really have the best story line. But funny! This movie featured Satya Raj, Mannivannan, Manthra and so many other comedy people. If you really feel like having a good laugh one day, rent this for sure. I am a comedy lover. I love to laugh. If you do as well. See this movie! ***1/2
Uyirodu Uyiraga - Nice story. This movie is not as good as expected to me. For one thing, the movie did not really have an ending. The movie left so many unanswered questions. The cast is Ajit Kumar and others; great cast though. Not any comedy really. This movie started off with Ajith having brain tumour and will die in 8 months. But he gets married and also has a child. Now, he did not get married right away. So even pregnancy takes about 8 months alone. So think about it, full peykaatu. *1/2
Thayin Manikody - Its OK. I was hoping more from a film which casted Arjun and Tabu. I was looking for some for fighting scenes and real big explosions. But, there were fights and explosions but not as great as I thought. But this movie shows you scenes from Switzerland, Malaysia and India. But overall it wasn't so bad. Nice comedy as well by Koundamani and Senthil. ***
Jeans - This movie is one of the best movies ever made!! If you haven't seen it yet, GO AND SEE IT!! This movie has the best effects ever! Also, the cast is also great; Aishwarya, Prasanth, Nazar, Seetha, Senthil, and more!! This movie does not have much of a story, but that's not needed when you have great songs and the best effects ever. The 3 main reasons in my opinion which makes the movie great are a) A.R. Rahman's music b) The effects and the locations they used c) and finally the main reason AISHWARYA RAI!! ****1/2+
Minsara Kanavu - This movie is a pretty good movie. This movie features a great cast of Aravind Swamy, Prabudeva, Kajol, Nazar and more!! The story line for the movie is, well.. its OK. ***
Suriya Vamsam - This was an awesome movie!! I liked the story line very much. The comedy of Manivannan and this other guy(sorry don't know the name) was great! Also this movie did get serious at times and all the songs were GREAT!! *****
Ratchakan - (Balasubramaniam, Vadivel, Susmita Sen, and others) This movie didn't really have a good story line. I liked the action in this movie, although at times it was too much. Also, the effects in this movie were pretty good. **
Ottam - (Oormila and others)I've seen the hindi version of it (Daud), and eventhough I didn't understand much, its really funny. You should take a look at it when it comes out. ***
Ponnmanam - This movie is hilarious!! The mix of Mannivannan, Charlie and Prabu also joins the fun. ****
Naerukku Naer - This movie had a pretty good story line. Very up-to-date society (separation at the beginning leading to divorce). The ladies out there would probably like the casting on this movie with Vijay and the premier of Suriya. The only thing I hated about this, was the little girl, please next time get someone who will stop once in a while crying. ***1/2
Kadhalukku Mariyadhai - (Vijay, Shalini, Sivakumar and others) This movie didn't impress me much, since my taste is way different from what this movie is. No dances, no good fights and the story is mostly sad. Many people may like it, although I don't. What I find stupid is, why didn't Vijay's family go and ask Shalini's family for the hand of her marriage, instead of crying about it at the end? **
Kadhal Mannan - Not much of a story. But I did like the comedy in it. Ajeet Kumar and this new girl (don't know her name but she's good lookin'). I find this movie is pretty funny. They didn't go overboard with this movie like they do in some others. ***
